Kashi is a Japanese lyric study app. In this policy, "Kashi", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of Kashi and kashi-app.com.

Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use Kashi.
- Waitlist details: your email address, signup source, signup time, and approximate country where available.
- Account details: information returned by Google or Spotify sign-in, such as account identifiers, email address, display name, and profile image where provided.
- Spotify integration data: if you connect Spotify, Kashi may use Spotify tokens and Spotify account data needed to import playlists, search tracks, display artwork, and control playback where you ask it to.
- Study data: selected songs, generated vocabulary, saved words, decks, review progress, app settings, and preferences.
- User-provided lyrics: lyrics you paste into Kashi may be processed to create study views, word lookups, translations, and flashcards.
- Technical data: server logs, device/app diagnostics, IP address, browser or device information, and security events may be processed to keep the service working and secure.
How We Use Information
- To provide the Kashi app, website, waitlist, lyric study tools, and review features.
- To send waitlist or launch updates if you joined the waitlist.
- To connect with Google or Spotify when you choose to use those integrations.
- To save your study progress, preferences, saved words, and generated decks.
- To improve reliability, diagnose issues, prevent abuse, and protect the service.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

Where UK GDPR or similar privacy laws apply, we rely on these legal bases:
- Consent for waitlist emails and optional account integrations where required.
- Contract to provide the app features you request.
- Legitimate interests to maintain, secure, debug, and improve Kashi.
- Legal obligation where we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.
Lyrics And Copyright
Kashi is designed to help you study lyrics that you provide. Kashi does not grant you rights to lyrics, music, artwork, or other third-party content. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to use any lyrics or content you add to the app.
Sharing Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers who host, operate, secure, or support Kashi.
- Google or Spotify when you choose to sign in or connect those services.
- Professional advisers, regulators, or authorities where legally required.
- A successor organisation if Kashi is reorganised, sold, or transferred.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Waitlist details are kept until they are no longer useful for launch communications or you ask us to delete them. Account and study data may be kept while your account remains active, unless deletion is required sooner.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect Kashi and the data we process. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, but we work to limit access, reduce unnecessary data retention, and monitor for issues.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your personal information. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Children
Kashi is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Kashi develops. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
